Distraction: Roller Boogie
Once upon a time there was a cute-as-a-button Wandering Eye who thought he could roller skate his way to fame and fortune until an overly aggressive game of indoor roller derby with one Dee Dee Feltner from down the street left him with a double fracture in his right arm. Rollerskating dreams dashed our hero would go on to non-fame and poverty via other routes namely this here blog. Fortunately some dreams never really die.....cue a cinematic classic with the power to inspire a desire for extra tight high-waisted shorts, rainbow suspenders and sequined elbow guards....include an 'original' song by Cher plus the wow-how-does-she-do-it acting talent of Linda Blair and this here Wandering Eye is ready to sell his soul for one more roll...

Distraction: Bon Tucson
Wonderful new images from one of my most favorite specialty boutiques located in Tucson of all places! The shop is called BON and it is inspiring and beautiful and totally unique just like the mother and daughter team who create the magic....like a mirage in the desert. I am blissfully entranced.

If I Were A Girl: Burberry Prorsum Spring 2012
It's not often that a fashion collection rocks my jaded wandering world let alone that of my extra jaded inner girl (especially when she and I should have been asleep an hour ago) but Christopher Bailey's designs for spring 2012 managed to get my world a rocking and a rolling.....wonderful earthy rusts, mustards and dark greens with pops of hot pink, aqua and yellow, loads of crafty details like beading, applique and crochet and a wonderful mash-up of geometric patterns with stripes and ethnic batiks. Now, my inner girl is planning her spring 2012 looks and I'll never get to sleep.

Covet: Berndt Friberg
It's a challenge for my pea-sized brain to chose just one Berndt Friberg vase because, well, they look so beautiful in a group....all those sensuous curves, delicately stretched necks and the colors! My eyes smile taking in all the wonderful subtle striations in the glaze. Good thing Sotheby's is auctioning off some Berndt Friberg groupings....time to brush off the ol' bidding paddle.

Still Life: Mobile
At the risk of annoying one of this blog's three readers with my insistent desire to ruminate over a late summer vacation on the Cape, I will share one last image:
High on a wind blown hillside in Truro I was in a house with the most expansive view of green marsh lands and an ocean that sparkled like dark blue sequins....the site much too beautiful and vast to be captured with my wee camera so, instead, I focused on this gem of low-tide craftwork found tinkling quietly in a corner of the living room.
By the way, did I mention that I was on vacation.....?

Wishful Wandering: Provincetown
I'm sad to say that my late summer vacation is but a mere glimmer of sun in my surprisingly uncooperative short-term memory.... the vision of seaside frolicking fading as rapidly as my hard-earned tan. Fortunately, I have some images to remind me of my late summer visit to Provincetown so I know that the stories of a well rested and relaxed Wandering Eye are true.

Rhyme nor Reason: Hoop
I feel like I've been jumping through a number of fiery hoops lately....who knew it was a legitimate form of exercise?!? All I need is a partner with really long arms and a pair of those booties with the contrast trim.

Wishful Wandering: Maison Lesage
After sorting through numerous requests (in my delusional mind), I've decided where I'll be headed for my imaginary fall internship: Maison Lesage in Paris. It would be amazing to spend time in this 130 year old studio surrounded by skilled craftspeople creating exquisite embroidery for the likes of Chanel, Dior and Yves Saint Laurent. All of the work at Maison Lesage is still executed by petites mains (little hands) and, even though my hands are a far cry from petite, they're plenty big enough for fetching beads, thread, needles or croissants.

Rhyme nor Reason: Break
Excuse the lengthy break in posts from all of us at DoaWE HQ. This here Wandering Eye was squeezing in one last break before summers end so I was preoccupied a'wandering by the sea shore and refusing to open the lap top. I just couldn't muster the energy after perusing my pile of magazines, lifting numerous cocktails to SPF 50 lips and reclining on weathered deck chairs as the tide went from low to high to low again. In between naps, I did manage to commune with nature on a short hike during which I spotted this petite mushroom hiding out beneath a fern leaf....how could I resist that flaming orange? Unfortunately, an equally colorful gnome was not to be found living within.
