Great Aunt Pippa's second cousin Gustuvus (aka Earl of Dalhousie) was a life long bachelor who enjoyed building elaborate doll-houses (thus the name) and making his own "uniforms" from yards of the finest ribbon....French, of course.
If I am not mistaken, the uniform is of the Irish Guards and is still in use today. When I saw this picture of Prince William wearing it earlier this year I couldn't get over what a stunning uniform it is.
